The transfer marked has blown after Neymar revealed he would like to stay one more year with his current side Santos as at least Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Chelsea are to wait at least 12 months for the youngster’s availability. The Brazilians, who had initially declared that they would keep the player for six more months, are keen to keep the revelation in Brazil for yet another season, according to the player’s agent Wagner Ribeiro who confirmed the news later on Friday. Even more than that, Neymar, too, is believed to have promised his commitment with the Copa Libertadores winners, something which might put Real Madrid – who were the only ones to have looked willing to pay Santos more than $60 million – in difficulty as Jose Mourinho is still looking forward to strengthening his side with another striker.

Said Neymar’s agent Ribeiro: “I am working hard to ensure Neymar stays at Santos for another year. This is what he wants. He wants to play in the Club World Cup in December and to take part in Santos’ centenary celebrations (in April 2012). We are going to work to make everyone happy, but for Neymar he wants one more year and then Madrid.” So, Mourinho’s side remain top of the player’s wishlist, but the Spanish champions are now forced to handle the situation as it is. Neymar is wanted to be part of Brazilians’ side when they celebrate the centenary next year, though his mandate and his near future with the current team has become more and more uncertain.
Neymar is under contract with Santos until 2014 as the Brazilians are to ask at lest 40 million pounds for the forwarder who has impressed in both seasons with them. He has scored 27 goals and picked 64 selections with his first ever club with which he won two Campeonato Paulista, a Brazilian Cup and this term’s Libertadores Cup. His international career is also an impressive one as the forwarder has scored five times in nine games with the senior national team with which he lost the Copa America quarter finals this month.
Manchester City and Russians from Anzhi are also interested in bringing the Brazilian to their side, but the two are bottom of the candidate list, the more the player had declared at one point he wouldn’t join a Premier League side due to the weather, and on the other hand that he would only sign a big club, something which sends the Russian side away from his radar. If he joins Real Madrid next season, Neymar will force Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain to fight harder for their places in the fist XI, though the Spesial One had expressed his desire to keep both on Santiago Bernabeu. Furthermore, Mourinho is keen to keep Emmanuel Adebayor in Madrid although Manchester City haven’t given any favorable answer to the question. Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Togolese services, who scored eight goals for Real during his six-month mandate which ended this summer.
FC Barcelona had also looked keen to sign the Brazilian, but the Catalans told Santos they will only have the sufficient money next year. Pep Guardiola’s side have made just one big name move this summer when they brought Udinese’s cornerstone Alexis Sanchez earlier this week. The player, who has become the first Chilean so sign the European champions, is set to arrive in Barcelona next week for the medical test, having signed five-year deal with the Camp Nou side. Barcelona paid the Italians 26 million euros for the 22-year-old who is currently at home.
