Ferguson dispels Sneijder move rumors

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson denied all the rumors which see Wesley Sneijder making the move abroad to the Old Trafford side. The Scottish coach claimed that there is no doubt the Dutch would join the Red Devils this transfer window. Even more than that, Ferguson is sure that Inter Milan won’t let him go too easy, so the playmaker, whose worth is estimated at 35 million pounds, is likely to stay at Giuseppe Meazza for at least one more season. Sneijder is still a cornerstone at Inter with which he had to tremendous seasons which include a UEFA Champions League trophy won last year under Jose Mourinho, an Italian title and two Cups. Inter managed to defend the Italian Cup this year after beating Palermo in the big final.

They failed instead to defend the title, as well, finishing the term second, well behind new champions AC Milan. Said Ferguson: “First of all, I don’t think Inter Milan are prepared to sell him anyway, but you get conjecture and you get speculation every week in newspapers unfortunately. We have to answer these for some reason… We have to find a way a reason without insulting a particular club or embarrassing any particular player.” The Scott declared last week that Samir Nasri’s move to Old Trafford is ‘unlikely’, the more the Gunners have already lost Gael Clichy, being one step from losing Cesc Fabregas, too.

The French playmaker is still under a one-year deal with Arsenal, having plenty of chances to part with them next summer. United gave Ryan Giggs a one-year extension to the original contract, while veteran Edwin Van der Sar is to split with the English side this summer. Apart from Nasri’s unlikely move, Tottenham’s Luka Modric had also been hunted by the Red Devils, but no deal was agreed on by the two clubs. Arsenal rejected a 20 million pound-bid for Nasri, but United refused to improve their offer for the midfielder. United have already found a replacement for their former Dutch keeper as Atletico Madrid’s De Gea penned a five-year contract with the new champions.

Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger is still confronting with Cesc Fabregas status as the Spaniard is desired by his former side FC Barcelona who already lodged a 35 million pound-bid for the Emirates captain. Even more than that, tense relationships occurred between Wenger and the Gunners when Xabi revealed that his national team-mate suffers from his unlikely move to Camp Nou. Manchester City was among the main candidates for Nasri, but they could only bring Gael Clichy on the Eastlands this transfer window, whom Roberto Mancini gave a four-season deal.
