As expected Chelsea’s new acquisition Thibaut Courtois is not likely to replace or make Petr Cech fight for his place on Stamford Bridge as the Blues have just loaned the new keeper to Atletico Madrid shortly after being bought from Genk. Atletico, who are in need for a new keeper after De Gea’s departure to Manchester United, are to keep the Belgian youngster for one season at the Calderon. Courtois was brought from the Belgian champions against eight million pounds, having signed a five-year deal with Andre Villas Boas new side. Courtois is not worried of becoming a cornerstone in London and claimed that he is looking forward to playing in La Liga next season. Either way, the Belgian is to set new heights, higher than he had at Genk.

Said the player: “I’m just looking forward to the challenge of playing in La Liga. I know Genk were hoping I would help them defend their title, but I wanted to test myself at the highest possible level. There are no guarantees about being first choice at Atletico, but I’m prepared to take the risk and try and prove I’m worth a place.” Courtois underwent medical test for the Londoners last week, and have home the only move the Portuguese manager has made so far this window. Chelsea is currently in Asia for the pre-season, but are expected to return this month as the Premier League new season starts on August 13. The Blues haven’t lost any big name player this summer as Boas could use the same team the next season.
His former FC Porto players Falcao and Hulk with whom he won three trophies this year, including the Portuguese title and Cup as well as the Europa League trophy, are no longer likely to make the move to London. Falcao has just extended his deal with the Portuguese side, while Hulk hasn’t been confirmed with a move abroad. Chelsea finished the season third with 71 points, nein behind leaders and new champions Manchester Untied, something which led to Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking and Boas’s arrival on Stamford Bridge. The Blues also failed to make the superior phases in the UEFA Champions League being ousted by the same Red Devils in the quarter finals.
Neymar has also been rumored to be in Chelsea’s radar, but the player is more likely to sign Real Madrid than to accept a transfer in Premier League. The Spaniards are the only side willing to present the proper amount of money for the 19-year-old Brazilian who has become a revelation since his first day with Santos with whom he won the Copa Libertadores and whom he helped to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup. Chelsea are also vying Manchester City and FC Barcelona for the striker who won’t leave the side until he competes for the International competition which gathers the best teams in the world.
The Blues are looking for a striker after Fernando Torres move has proved to be an uninspired one. The Spaniard scored just one goal for Chelsea whom he joined earlier this year from Liverpool. Didier Drogba, Kalou and Nicolas Anelka are set to stay in London as all three of them are in Asia for the pre-season. Chelsea will start he new season against Stoke City whom they meet on August 14 away.
