Agent: Barca join Neymar race

FC Barcelona have become the second favorite for Neymar’s services, according to the 19-year-old’s agent Wagner Ribeiro who has revealed that the Catalans are willing to pay the proper amount of money for the player, but they have to wait one more year to get it. Barca have spent most of their transfer money, but this didn’t stop them to have some talks with the Brazilians regarding Neymar’s potential move to Camp Nou. It has been reported that five giants, including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and the Russian from Anzhi Makhachkala are all willing to pay the Brazilians more than $64 million. However, the player is likely to join either of the two Spanish clubs. Jose Mourinho’s side looked willing to pay Santos the money ‘now’, while the Catalans could only make a promise they would buy the striker next season.

Said Ribeiro: “The exact situation is as follows: Barcelona want him next year and will pay next year, Madrid want him now and are prepared to pay now. The numbers being talked about by both clubs (Madrid and Barcelona) are good, but Neymar would prefer a move to Madrid.” FC Barcelona haven’t made any big-name transfer so far this transfer window, but Alexis Sanchez of Udinese is likely to join Pep Guardiola’s team this summer. Barcelona are also expecting a positive answer from Arsenal who are still negotiating Cesc Fabregas’s future. The Gunners rejected Catalans’ 35 million pounds as manager Arsene Wenger is till keen to keep the Spaniard on the Emirates despite midfielder’s wish to make the return in Spain.

Neymar said at one point that a move to Chelsea is not excluded, either. The youngster is willing to join a Premier League side, but the weather remains an important factor in his decision. Real Madrid was also mentioned on his wishlist, but – still – he will remain at Santos for at least six more months. Jose Mourinho has already made five transfers. Two Bundesliga players, including Nuri Sahin of champions Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich’s Hamit Altintop were given long-term deals, while Lens defender Raphael Varante and Espanyol’s Callejon were also given the chance to set new heights on Santiago Bernabeu. Real’s most recent transfer regards Benfica’s Coentrao who signed a five-season contract with the Copa del Rey winners.

Neymar has scored 27 goals in 64 games with Santos, while his international career is also a remarkable one. The youngster managed to score five goals in nine appearances with the national team of Brazil which he has joined last year. He is winner of the Brazilian Cup, Campeonato Paulista and Copa Libertadores, as well as of the South American Youth Championship. One thing is for sure, though: the player won’t leave his current club until he competes for the FIFA Club World Cup.
