“My body aches. In my head I want to continue, but this body can’t take much more.”, Ronaldo stated to a Brazilian publication. Ronaldo’s last two years were spent in Brazil, at Corinthians, after a 12 years period spent in Europe. Though he was one of the most prolific strikers in the world, he never won the supreme European trophy, Champions League.

The period he spent at Barcelona is considered a piece of his best showdown, with 34 goals scored in 37 games. However, after that season he was bought by Internazionale for a record-fee of 19 million pounds. After more than two years of knee injuries, Ronaldo moved in 2002 to Real Madrid and started another chapter in his career, scoring 83 times in 127 games.  In 2007 he moved for a modest fee to AC Milan where he had a bad lay-down injury to his knee again, sidelining him for more than half of year. After being released by Milan, he moved on a free to Corinthians where he scored 18 times in 31 games.

The prolific striker is considered one of Brazil’s best players ever and is still the all-time World-cup scorer leader, with 15 goals in four appearances. Brazil won two of those four competitions. Ronaldo had an impressive 2002 World Cup, scoring a brace in the Final against Germany.
