Former Arsenal and Barcelona star, Thierry Henry (32), will be introduced to the press on Thursday. He’s another former star going to the MLS to improve the quality and image of the competition. MLS needs to shine, they proved this year, at the World Cup, they are eager to improve their football. They can do that only by attracting important players to their league and, after David Beckham and Frederik Ljungberg, Henry seems to perfectly fit MLS.
Sure, Henry is past his best performances even since he played for Arsenal. He didn’t impressed at Barcelona, in the last season being out of the first eleven. If he will play good for New York, that will only be good for the league, himself and the team. If he will be a flop, at least he will attract players to the stadium. And isn’t that what everybody seems to want in the US?
New York never managed to win the MLS, only managing a second place two years ago. Henry is probably what they need to reach a milestone they’ve never been managing before. The excitement produced by the soon-to-be former French international is high, and the crows will definitely be better next season. There’s no doubt about the fact that he will bring quality to the squad and he will be a first team player, now it remains to be seen if he will get back on tracks or he will fall short.
